i started this thread and not sure where the best folder is for this.

I'm now playing a different bet selection model.

We know about patience and bankroll. Also guidance and GREAT discipline.

So now I pose this question for debate.

I like to play to 5+ commish or -6 and commish. Either one hits and I'm off to the next shoe. I never record or stay to watch to see what ifs.

If I try to play the half decade rule I end up leaving at plus 3 more times than I go to plus 8 or more....so I sorta look at 5 to exit the shoe.

Now I play often so the thought of me just playing one long continuous shoe in my lifetime is certainly noted; I look at hitting plus 5 as a way to color up long term.

So am I short changing myself by this method? Thoughts?

I yell "winner winner chicken dinner on all naturals"

You know my opinion on this one. I too look at +5 as my exit point no ifs, and's or buts. Regardless of how the shoe is going, if I win my first 5 plays I'm out, it's that simple. On the flip side I am out at -5. I have looked back at hundreds of shoes that I played and if I had played to +5 I would have won most if not many of my losing shoes. I don't know if it's right or wrong but I know it's the way I play. I'm not trying to set a record for the most units won in a shoe all I care about is the bank roll (If it's growing that I'm happy). I'm sure a lot of players can look back at their previous shoes and realize that +5 is easy- but try to be greedy to pull in at +20 is a lot harder. So it may take me 4 or 5 shoes to get to +20 for the day but I'm OK with that.

Hat's off! Playing the way you and trbfla describe is the mark of a professional. It's not easy in a casino environment to do this, but a real professional has the discipline to execute the strategy regardless of the distractions in the casino environment. No different than executing a trading strategy, but actually harder in a live casino that it is from behind a computer screen.

Its really not about the number of units, it IS about the MONEY. Want to make more, don't play longer (this is what the casino wants you to do). Instead, bet more within the confines of a system where you know exactly what your results will be for each event and which has clear stops and exit targets.

Would agree that I would probably be ahead more overall exiting at +5 for every shoe than trying to hit +10 or higher and then hitting a bad run and going back to +1 or -

We only remember the one shoe every so often that we hit +20, +30 or more.

Add up the number of +5's we could of had and we are probably behind even with the +30 win

My current goal is +10 per shoe or more if possible

I think I will lower it to 2 x +5 shoes

Not sure about stop loss - maybe -5 to -10 depending on what you play would make sense.

Throwing this out there for an opinion. I am even more conservative. +3 and out for me but a little different betting strategy. I have never lost my first be (I know I jinxed myself) but my first bet/progression is my highest bet ($400) and use the 1,2,4 progression. After 1st win the second bet is $200 then $100. God willing, with all three wins the worst I win is $665.00. Then I go home. I am fortunate enough to live 30 minutes from Parx in PA so I get to go around 2-3 times a week. I am not greedy.

Hi trbfla,

You have the right perspective. Having a win goal of +5 is the best way. Most shoes statistically could be won with a small goal. Even higher goals might win, but with changing shoes during play, a professional realizes that every small bit counts to eventually a larger goal. If you look at anything worthwhile it takes time and small incremental steps to achieve a goal. But, once you can accomplish it you realize that you have changed.

So, to add a goal of 5 is great and a stop loss of -5 is also great. With this you can be on your way to being wealthy. To often people go for a higher goal and lose due to discipline, greed, or even misreading the board or scorecard. All these factors make it difficult to bigger goals.

Hope this helps.
