  1. Thought about this some more last night. This is another area I will be working on in my future play. While I did OK last night, the reason I failed in Vegas was I continued to play a table that I got beat on every time, thinking if I maintained more discipline I could actually beat the table. The reality was it just got more frustrating every time I lost 2 in a row and caused me to further second guess myself. Table selection is very important. If you have a bad history on a table, might be a good idea to avoid it no matter what instead of trying to put the feather in the cap to say I finally beat that table. Last month I lost enough to cover a year at any ivy league school, or a 4 year degree in some pretty good schools. This thread has enough information to make that "investment" pay back very quickly.
  2. Ellis hit it on the head on his prior post. And Quizzical, that is pretty much how I play so i would say yes.
  3. This is how the shoes were going the day I struggled at Mirage last week, when I was coming in around play 20, playing OT4BL and getting pounded.
  4. I remember the first time I played black chips. Way before NOR. It was a huge rush. Walked into casino with $500, left with $1300. Be careful, a big win can give you too much confidence sometimes. I thought I was invincible after that and next trip didn't go so well. Then again, this is before I learned from the folks here and winning was a lot more rare back then.
  5. Since I took a break for a couple of days, and it is a new month, I decided to venture out locally. Keeping in mind it is a saturday night, I worked diligently to minimize risk. The plan was to bet 2-Hi for 2 shoes at +5 each then go home. First shoe I stuck to the program, got in a good shoe at play 28 and it had its first tie on my 3rd bet and the second tie on my 5th bet. From there the pattern changed and I was down 3 units, so I stayed out 3 hands and got back in to win the shoe +6 at hand 66. Second shoe, after placing my first bet (and losing) thier card machine broke so they had to shuffle. I went to another table. Third shoe, Played to +5 and left. Wasn't in for more than 20 hands. Fourth shoe, went back to table that had equipment failure. Entered at hand 7. Equipment failure at hand 15 with me down 4 units. Left table again. Fifth shoe showing nothing but 2s and 3s upon arival. When I sat down it started going with some 1s plus ties, and since I was playing OT4BL, I went down 4 units, then quickly returned to +8 before quitting. Sixth shoe, back to broken table. Third time is the charm. It was about hand 7 and I started to play positive progression since I won the first hand and figured I only had about 5 hands before machine broke. I got to +8 before hand 20 and went home since I had now beat every table that was open. So I've officially had a winning day and I'm ahead 26 units. I played a little longer than I had planned, but I felt I was handling my betting discipline well, so why not. March has 31 days, so I'm back on my way to the goal! P.S. It really isn't that hard getting to +5 with 2HI and as a side benefit, I never saw -6. Wish I had figured this out a while ago
  6. After careful consideration of my play for the last 5 days, I've decided to go home and take a break for a few days to refocus before trying again....I still have 34 days to make my goal
  7. I I carry my laptop with me when I travel and I log every shoe for dollars won/lost casino played, date, and some notes.....in regards to unit size and winnings all things are relative....normally 2000 a day is enough, yes, however I have goals to make and a timeframe...a more realistic goal I use is doubling my bankroll on a daily basis
  8. Unlike Slot machines, table games are between you and the IRS....no withhilding or reporting done other than a form if you happen to handle more than 10000 in actual cash, which isn't applicable to checks, wire transfers or markers.
  9. Not going well after short break.....sat down at a table I can't beat....the one that beat me 4 times yesterday and I beat me again today...then sat @ another table that was tough this morning...I read theshoe wrong and got in trouble again...eating lunch then I'll be starting all over again
  10. Mid day update...have had some struggles, but so far I ended 1st shoe down 5 units and shoes 2-5 were all winning shoes. After paying commission I currently stand at +18 units. Taking a break for a bit.
  11. Goal for the day, 10 shoes at +5. Starting out this morning with a 20 unit bankroll. Will report later.
  12. Played 17 shoes today. Won 10 of them, lost 7 of them. I should have stopped after shoe 15, when I was up 30 black for the day, but I was stubborn, hoping to be up 50 units today and ended up playing purple and losing my shirt in the last two shoes because I was tired. I was playing for +10 for the shoes, as they were all very choppy, however I don't think there was a shoe that I wasn't up 5 units, even the losing ones. Maybe there is more than one lesson here. Tomorrow is another day, will try again.
  13. This is why I chose Vegas. Playing shoes all day every day is very stressful and likely to create failure. As a young gentleman, Vegas has plenty of things to do to keep me occupied other than the tables so I can employ hit and run strategies to +5 and avoid burn-out. If I were going all-in to win in 1 day, I think Ellis is on point with choosing a better casino. But if the plan is to play every day, hour after hour, it will cause errors in the MID-TERM, before getting fully seasoned, and I think this is where 100 shoes would likely fail. I found with short sessions of less than 4 hours, I can play two days in a row. With 2 hour sessions, I can play twice a day every day. With 30 minute sesssions, I can play 4 or 5 times with 1 hour breaks, but I still get burned out in 1 day. Taking a week or two to build this massive bankroll I think can certainly be done in Vegas and it can be entertaining as well.
  14. Maybe fate is on my side. Arrived last night and while walking to dinner table, saw a roulette table with 5 in a row red, so I placed 1 $100 bet on red and won, then went to dinner. After dinner, stopped at two tables running a ZZ pattern and placed $25 bets and won both of them. Then I went to the baccarat room and saw a table at play 44, it was 22 bank and 20 player. The player had won 3 in a row and I noticed all of the runs were odd numbers. I watched the player go to 4, then placed a $50 bet on player and won. I went to bed winning every single table and up $200 for the night on a $100 buy in. This morning, I woke up to a very good business call and then saw this update. I'm ready to do it!
  15. At the airport now, will be in vegas in 6 hours....getting a good night sleep and hitting it in the morning.....after I bank away the 30000, I'll try to start over and go for a million
  16. Thinking about trying some different bet progressions. I've been playing 1-2-3 recently, but two weeks ago I did really well with a 1-1.5-2-3. What are some thoughts here? 1-1-2 1-1.5-2 1-2-3 1-1.5-2-3 1-2-3-4
  17. Keeping with the idea of $30,000 in 30 days, maybe the plan should be to fly to Sidney and sit with Oz for 2 weeks, playing $500 units!
  18. Another idea would be Net-Betting P/B or O/R depending on the shoe, of course watching for table selection. A 20 unit bankroll should comfortably carry a 1-2-3-4 progression to at least a +5 way significantly more times than a -10, correct?
  19. From a math perscpective, a $5000 bankroll provides 25 units @ $200 per unit. Building that up to a 50 unit profit is something I would be thinking could be done within 5-20 shoes, depending on how the shoes go. At that point, moving to $500 units would allow for a 30 unit buy-in, and would only require another 40 units win to meet a goal of $30,000 profit. Isn't it realistic to make 90 units over a 30 day period playing just about anywhere if we have a -10 stop loss, 1/2 decade win stop and a play NOR correctly a few mornings a week, possibly 3-5 partial shoes per day?
  20. I have also found as ellis said, weekday mornings are best, esplicially tues and wednesday
  21. I've have very good results playing shoes to +5 and +10 with the occasional +20 or +30 showing many more winning shoes then losing shoes, however I commonly get hammered by not having a stop loss....there has to be a better middle pont than going all in on the first shoe
  22. The good thing about your strategey is it doesn't waste time....I guess it would be over one way or another in 1 day....bad thing is its a bit risky....I'm thinking about doing this in vegas because table selection is way better...what about using $200 units at first, increasing to $500 units, but ensuring multiple attempts are available and playing 5 to 10 shoes over a few days?
  23. Starting with a $5000 bankroll. Any suggestions on making $30,000 in 30 days? Heavy hits on weekends or little bit at a time? What's the likelyhood?
