Hi Ellis, Keith, and the rest.

Ellis my name is Shannon (i am a guy though haha) and I found your phone number some 15 years ago when I was living in Memphis. Keith I talked to you on the phone once when you were running the Blackjack 101 site, and you taught me the correct pronunciation of "baccarat" lol.

Anyway, Ellis agreed to meet me at Sam's Town in Tunica, and he told me I would recognize him because he would have his glasses on top of hi head (which he did) and would be at the baccarat tables. He was there with Thurstle his son-in-law. I had never seen the game played before in my life, and I was desperate to find a way to make some extra income (still am) and was always mystified by casino games since I was a kid.

I sat down beside Ellis, and watched the game happening, and I was watching how they bet and trying to figure out how to play the game. Ellis and Thurstle were playing $5 minimum bets as their base bet. Some of the bets got up there a bit (nothing shocking) and they were zig-zagging their bets on the scorecards sometimes. Well, in about 1 hours time, after a fairly small buy in, they both walked away with $350 dollars each AND got us ALL a meal comp ticket with drinks included at the Corky's BBQ restaurant in the casino.

I still don't play, and I have been wrestling with an alcohol abuse problem for the last 10 years, but i remember that day, as it gave me hope that a person can indeed Beat The Casino.

I remember Ann? Your better half at the time, nice lady. I remember a Lexus SC400 I think? that you looked at outside and said that you used to own one. Nice car.

Well my family I are still struggling financially, due to my addiction, but I still have that hope in me that I can be free, both physically and financially. Watching Ellis play gave me hope then, and that is the reason I am writing this. I hope this helps someone.

Peace, health, and blessings, Shannon.

I had to come back to make an addendum to the above post. My whole point is, Ellis risked his reputation as a gambling master to me, a complete stranger. Had Ellis not been the real thing, he would not have risked letting a complete stranger watch him play. Not only did he play in front of me, he won in front of me. And won quite well at that. Peace. Shannon.

Shannon,

Just wanted to offer you some encouragement. You can win against your addiction. I myself am a recovering addict, addicted to what I won't say, but know this; I have experienced that rationalizing inner voice that tries to convince us that its ok to do whatever this time. Don't listen to it. If you don't give up you can learn to tell that evil inner voice to leave you alone. And it will more and more. Good luck, you can do it.

BigVic, thank you for your encouragement and advice. I was hesitant to even mention my problem, but I find the more I open up about it, the less of a hold it seems to have. Plus, if I ever decide to pursue baccarat in any capacity, I know my head would need to be as CLEAR as possible. So glad that you conquered your battle. What a blessing! I hope you are doing great with your baccarat play as well. Thank you again!

All the best from me and my family,

Shannon

Wow! What a memory you have! You got everything exactly right - even the spelling of all the names, The car type, the restaurant and drinks as well as our winnings. BUT, what was my cat's name???

BTW Shannon, I showed your post to Ann.

Hi Ellis! The man himself! Yes, I remembered a lot from that day! As a guy who had had hopes of making some decent cash against the casinos after being duped into reading many gambling books, you are the first person who made any sense whatsoever, and gave me HOPE. So, I soaked in everything like a sponge and never forgot watching it happen in person. Unfortunately I started having some anxiety right after that, I suppose due to the fact I was a new dad and recently married, so everything casino related dropped off in my life. But as you see it's something I have never forgotten, and who knows? Maybe I will have the courage someday to do what I saw you! Thanks for the memories and thank you for including me in the comped meal in case I did not thank you on that day.

Peace, Health, and Blessings......Shannon in Atlanta.

Right! Gambling books are a complete waste of time - ha, except for mine of course. They were mostly written by professional writers who have never seen the inside of a casino. They are usually just rewrites of the book before their's also written by some jerk who never saw the inside of a real casino.

Hang in there Shannon - make something of your life!

I knew I should was missing something in my first post, and that is, Ellis never tried to sell me anything, never promoted anything, never bragged in himself or boasted about his play. He was all business, and that business was playing against the house. He was actually living the life that many aspire to live, and he treated me with utmost respect as a person. Blessings and health to all.

Shannon.

Well here is a different opinion:

"Ellis,

Ellis it is a bunch of horseshit! Baccarat can not be beat. You guys all end up divorced lonely in a game what is 50-50. You see what you want to see. All systems works for a while. Even an ape can win at baccarat. Con artist Ellis. You have no money left Ellis, IF you had you would look a bit better. You look like miserable gambler. LOL, Tom"

This was posted 2 days ago on Virtuoid (Dave's) blog, ImSpirit, at the end of the huge thread "Ellis' NOR Seminar in PA and Field Trip to AC". Tom is an obvious idiot and I have no concern re him. But Virtuoid is a highly educated individual. Among my beefs with him is that he allows such low life posts on his blog but then is afraid to allow me to reply.

Therefore Shannon, I need a return favor. I want YOU to reply. But I'll write the reply for you. That seems to me to be just as fair as Virtuoid is being.

The guys can help you find the ImSpirit spot to post if you have any trouble. You'll have to register there but it's free. Of course, don't mention that I had anything to do with your reply. I'm getting some of the reply from your own posts here, which, I think, under the circumstances, makes it valid enough.

Here is what I want you to reply under your own name:

"Well Tom, I'm not a professional but I'm quite certain that looks have nothing to do with Baccarat skills. I wonder why you even bring that up?

But at 73, Ellis is slim and trim and hotly admired by many women as some of the photographs here imply. Perhaps he looks a little rough because he is nearly twice the age of others photographed with him - and more than twice the age of some. But what difference does that make?

I don't know but maybe the 6 shoes posted here that he won at a 26% PA was just a stroke of incredible luck. I don't even know if that kind of luck is possible. I've never seen or even heard of such a thing myself.

But just how far does luck extend? Two of his students just posted a total of 76 shoes played conseculatively in Vegas and CA in several casinos. They both played to an 80% shoe win rate yet their avg losing shoe was less than their avg winning shoe. Does luck explain that too? I don't think so because it just keeps happening. This thread was not about the first or only time Eliis has done such a thing. Many of his students, including me, have watched him do it.

I called Ellis and asked if I could watch him play just as Virtuoid did. I was immediately invited to Sam's Town Tunica where I met with Ellis, his son in law Thurstle, and Ann who has been with Ellis since 1994. I remember everything that happened including a black Lexus SC400. Ellis and Thurstle played exactly alike while Ann explained what they were doing. An hour or so and maybe 3 shoes later, they play very fast, they both suddenly quit, up a total of exactly 140 units. Then Ellis treated us all to dinner and drinks at their finest restaurant.

Once Ellis is in the game he is all business. He is in his element. The win came as no surprise to anyone including the dealer and pit boss, who all know him along with many of the players. This is just an everyday occurrence for Ellis. He does what we all wish we could do. He plays Bac and BJ professionally.

And you know what, no one mentioned a thing about the win. There was no bragging, no sales pitch, no strings. It was purely an invitation to watch him play. Nothing more, nothing less - just as he did with Virtuoid and countless others.

But learning does require some intelligence and some work. Which reminds me - check your grammar."
