Baccarat Hall of Fame Member kachatz1 Posted February 25, 2014 Baccarat Hall of Fame Member Report Share Posted February 25, 2014 Just got back from a trip over to MGM's SPORTS AND RACE BOOK..It's early here, but already the locals are filing in....Strange thought hit me, perhaps it will hit home with you.SPORTSBOOK bettors can bet round-the-clock, provided they are " proficient" at betting soccer outcomes, NBA BB totals, golf futures, and NFL props ( just to name a few)--- but, there is a human factor, a weather factor, an officiating factor, etc. enters into all outcomes...HORSE RACE bettors can bet certain hours of the day, certain times of the year , and best they know which jockey performs best under what conditions, which horse performs best on dry tracks or mud, etc.--- but, there is a human factor, a horse factor, a weather factor, etc. enters into all outcomes....BLACKJACK bettors can bet round-the-clock, provided they find a table open--- but, they must assess how well " perfect strategy" is performing vs. the dealer, what other players are doing, how " clumping" may come into play ( or not), etc. to affect the outcome of their play.....BACCARAT is different from all of the above.--- there is no " human factor" other than your own--- there are no " weather conditions" , unless you consider loud music and cocktail waitresses' moods to be such--- no other player can " influence" the outcome of a hand, no matter how much they bet, how much they decide to mangle the cards --- and there is no officials " instant replay" necessary to determine the outcome of the game....So, our DAY AT THE RACES outcome, our player advantage%, our win/loss outcome is entirely up to us!---we don't have to wait a week before games---nobody else is betting on the outcome of our decision, except perhaps for the drunk behind you screaming PLAYER !! , or commenting after a hand " I KNEW" it would be Banker---casino conditions are generally no windows, no clocks, plenty of distractions..so we get used to thatAnd yet, we, as Baccarat Players, contribute the most to casino profits. Why is that?Because we have not put the same time and energy into becoming a top-performing Player as an athlete doesBecause we have not properly studied the track conditions ( table selection) Because we play when we are tired, or impaired in some other way ( no broken leg stories here!)MY POINT is simple.Treat every trip to the BAC table as " my day at the races", come ready-and-able to win....And you will.If not, you will end up just like those early-bird horse junkies I saw gearing up for another long day of $2/race bets..Good luck to you all! Baccarat Hall of Fame Member kachatz1 Posted February 26, 2014 Author Baccarat Hall of Fame Member Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 So... How much did you win?Wagered a Ben Franklin on the Houston Rockets to beat the Kings. After watching the way man-child Dwight Howard played against the Lakers, just kind of figured he had plenty of " juice" left in the tank....+$90.90 ( plus my Ben Franklin back, but doubtful it will be the same as the new, crisp one I used in the am...)No worries, I will not shed a tear when I go to collect tomorrow... Baccarat Hall of Fame Member kachatz1 Posted February 26, 2014 Author Baccarat Hall of Fame Member Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 KEVIN,Have you moved to vegas or just hanging out for a few days ?Keep spanking the casino ! If it keeps up , you may have to give up your day job , buy the dealers school on Flamingo Rd and start holding seminars ! johnny/abqHave the time these days to live PT in FL, and most time in Vegas.Had been traveling back and forth for several months, and really got tired of changing hotels every few days ( comps) , feasting on Casino food and drink ( I prefer Cambells a few times a week, and Costco Kirkland brands of Vodka ,Scotch and Wine are highly rated, and a great value!)The worst part? Having the Casino right under my feet ( too much temptation to play when tired, bored, nothing to do, etc.)...makes Discipline all the more difficult! Now out in the suburbs, small casinos abound, but few BAC tables...so have to drive 25 minutes to the Strip..Best deal in Vegas? FREE Valet parking all the major hotels...So I rented an apartment out in the Vegas burbs ST, drove a car out, and now " commuting" is much more tolerable...Met with Pompano Mike yesterday for about 1-1/2 hours...really nice man, he def knows how to play, and will be successful....wish I knew at his age what I know now! We talked a lot about " pacing" oneself, stop-loss, stop win goals/objectives/actionable ideas, and I know he is way brighter than the light which will soon come on for him.Vegas is full of temptations, not the least of which is 24 hour gambling....so many tables, so little time. But it beats a 250 mile drive to/from Biloxi every time I wanted to play!HA! Come on down!
