I got up and left...

22 hands into a shoe yesterday am about 10:30 @ NYNY and I am in recovery mode (1,2,4 progression), making my 4 unit "recovery bet"

( from two previous losses)

I am betting on PLAYER.

First 4 cards look like this:

P = K6

B = J4

Dealer " deals " a 6 to P, and a 9 to B

BANKER wins 3-over-2, right?

Good thing I had consumed a few cups of Java, as just as he reached for my $100, I " woke up" and realized he should not have "hit" the Player Side, but in fact that 6-card belonged on the banker side ( and the 9-card should never have come out)

Held up my hands, explained the error to dealer, who apologized and called over the floor manager.

Floor manager comes over and immediately declares" FREE HAND"

Whoaaaa, slow down! I explain carefully to the Floor Manager, including touching the 6-card with my finger and sliding it over to the Banker side, pushing the 9-card aside.

Player wins 6-over-0, right????

Floor Manager instructs Dealer to pick up all cards, including all those still in the shoe, and declares " NEW SHOE" , before walking over to the PaiGow game...

Did I ever get paid? Nope...

OK, so here is a lesson rarely talked about on this forum...especially directed towards newbies...

The " drawing rules" for Baccarat are relatively simple, but can be misconstrued /misinterpreted rather easily. Sometimes such mistakes may " help you", but I certainly do not wish for an uninformed/ill-timed error to cost a.n.y.b.o.d.y. a problem, accidental or otherwise...

Should I have caught it sooner?

-----YES

Would I have pointed out the error, even if it had helped me win the hand?

-----YES, I still would have...

So, Do you know the drawing rules? Printed right on back of many Baccarat Cards...

And what would you have done?

I colored-up and left before the next shoe even started...BAD KARMA, to say the least....and I never like to play with a chip-on-my shoulder clouding my decision-making/focus on the game...

Sometimes called cheating going after your hundos drawing too many cards. I like it when the dealer draws banker with 3 face cards only way I could lose is on a tie which I never bet a tie. Typical free hand fix....then new shoe fix on dealer mistakes. 22 hands in I wonder if he made any more previous mistakes.

Why are you using a negative progression? I thought if you use NOR, your hit rate should be 58% or better? Just flat bet and eventually, you will get your money back. IF you hit rate using NOR long-term isn't at least 58% you aren't playing it properly...

Negative progressions just increase variance.

To quote Ellis "YOu can't out bet the game. You have to have more winning bets than losing bets."

Sound like you were stuck in "misbehaving" shoe and you should accept the loss and find a better table that is "behaving" properly.

Let me get this straight...You, who haven't managed to find the piddly little amount to learn how to play NOR correctly, are giving advice to one of the most successful players on BTC on how to play NOR...I mean...Seriously

I'm trying to find a way of putting it gently...Arghh...stuff it...We Aussies have an expression that suits..."Methinks you have a few kangaroos asleep in the top paddock"

I could give you the translation...but trust me...You wouldn't like it.

Hey Hammy-

The use of betting progressions for Baccarat is directly correlated to why Denny's restaurants offer a "Moons Over My Hammy" special

( ask Steve S....it's in the NOR Bootcamp Manual... And yes, whether BTC or Denny' s, you need the code to unlock the truth...)

Once you find it, I am confident that the lightbulb will go on for you… As you recognize this is all highly confidential,I simply cannot explain this over the Internet for fear of copyright violations and potential conflict(s) with major International Treaties put in place during the Cold War and still existing today

Hope this explanation helps as it will require some fairly in-depth research to fully appreciate it's value...and likely after which you will climb aboard The Negative Progression " Love Train"

K-dog

You do know south beach Denny's was the first to introduce moons over miami hammy right....way back in the early 60s when Sinatra played baccarat at the hard rock.....it's was then he ordered a dry martini and a moons over my hammy....but he was a few Roos short of a hockey team....still waiting for oz's translation.

Ah the negative progression "love train"giving me many happy returns.....the gift that keeps on giving......come on aboard the love train....its a soul train....

You do remember earth wind and fire and the temptations singing about NOR in Philadelphia on the SOUL TRAIN dontcha....

Confusious says he must first own NOR to understand NOR......

I yell "winner winner chicken dinner on all naturals"

Great post,Master Chef Epstein! And Trbfla for a bit of a history lesson...

( in commemoration, headed to Denny's this am for breakfast)

Looks like Frank knew way back then it was just a matter of time before Denny's and Baccarat were forever linked....

Next up, daughter Nancy trumps that with "These Boots Are Made For Walking" Utube video about stop-losses, and THE 1 THING YOU MUST DO when you've hit the proverbial "Baccarat Wall"...

You keep saying you got something for me

Something you call love but confess

You've been a'messin' where you shouldn't 've been a'messin'

And now someone else is getting all your best

Well, these boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do

One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

You keep lyin' when you oughta be truthin'

You keep losing when you oughta not bet

You keep samin' when you oughta be a'changin'

What's right is right but you ain't been right yet

These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do

One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

You keep playing where you shouldn't be playing

And you keep thinking that you'll never get burnt (HAH)

Well, I've just found me a brand new box of matches (YEAH)

And what he knows you ain't had time to learn

These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do

One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

[sPOKEN]

Are you ready, boots?

Start walkin'

Another one in the books, huh?

Is that NOT apropos ( translation: " relevant", " fitting" ," about") the game ?.

And YES , I know the song was never meant to be about Baccarat, but remarkable how close many of us have come to the words in this song when playing the game....

( sooner or later, you all will...will it be after that last fateful trip to the ATM? Or will you 'get out' after your stated ' stop-loss' and come back another day to walk-all-over the casino?)

Again, Epstein delivers....in good standing, he may be promoted soon....
