Users ECD Posted August 26, 2016 Users Report Share Posted August 26, 2016 So I'm looking for some information from our NZL players about the local casinos. I am planning a 10-day trip to New Zealand in February and hope to check out a few baccarat games. Will be travelling with a group of 8, and it is primarily a golf, drinking and eating trip. But whenever we are spending a night in a city with a decent casino, I hope to get out and give it a go.

Pando is your man...expert on all things to do with NZ...Careful though over there...I understand that when they aren't beating the shit out of we Aussies at Rugby Union, they still find time to eat people (apparently, we taste just like chicken)

Hi way2fast Yes I live in Auckland, NZ so can be of help with anything you want to know There are a handful of casinos here, but SkyCity in Auckland is by far the biggest and with the greatest number of tables. The others are smaller boutique casinos, Christchurch being second biggest Feel free to flick me a PM if you need any specific information best regards Pando

Will only be in Auckland the first night, but staying close to SkyCity. Leave early the next morning to golf and stay at Tara Ita and don't make it back to Auckland again. SO will have to hit the casino after the group dinner on the first night.

NAH...Mostly, Kiwis are good people...hard workers too. I always found them welcoming...but don't ever challenge a Kiwi to a food eating contest...They are seriously big eaters. I was working in the mining areas of West Aussie and the Maori in front of me in the food line had a tray with 3 plates on it and each had 2 steaks (as well as veges) and I just assumed that two of the plates were for his buddies. The guy behind the counter just laughed and said "nope...that's his normal dinner...every night...6 steaks and he still comes back for desert" I remember thinking..."I seriously don't want to get stuck on a desert island with this guy"...LOL ...true story If you want a bit of fun...ask a Kiwi how many sides does a hexagon have?...and then try not to laugh. Your turn Pando...take your best shot...LOL

Unfortunately this trip might be short on baccarat. Really designed as a high end golf trip hitting 7-8 golf courses and staying mostly in places not near a casino (Cottages at Tara Ita, Matakauri Lodge, and the Farm at Cape Kidnappers). Best chance to play will be that one night in Auckland. The other couples in our group did the planning -- I'm just along for the ride on this outrageously expensive and over-the-top trip. Thankfully its been a good year in the casinos. When we get as little closer we can see about maybe meeting up at SkyCity.

I'm on fire today...I can't understand why I don't have any friends...

I have never stayed there nor played their golf courses. They will be fabulous Yes I certainly hope we can meet up, how can I not want to play baccarat with one of the greats of the game

Pando
here you go, a snapshot of Kiwi grandeur http://www.matakaurilodge.com/ This covers Matakauri Lodge, and the Farm at Cape Kidnappers
mjmtong
Hello Pando. N.Z. is a very beautiful country. You have great food, very good wines and top food. The beer is not too bad either. Allow me to support you "a wee bit" from the "cultural attacks" initiated from Oz. (might help dowse down that "fire" of his...ha ha!)
Pando
Hey thanks mjmtong Yes most things are good here, as you say great food, excellent wines The only downside is the winter can be a bit tough sometimes although this year has been very mild
mjmtong
Oz...but..on the "flip side"...here you go ! Poor Kiwi's...always seem to getting "screwed" by the Aussies' !
avion
Great link Pando, and even though I have never been to NZ the pictures and movies I have seen of the country is beautiful. Those pictures of the golf courses in your web link you shared look great. Gathering from the billboard sign mgmtong shared, there is definitely a "my dad can beat up your dad" going on. lol
mjmtong
Hi Pando. All of the above intended in good humor. Just joking of "Oz..course"....hahahaha! Yep, all that cold weather and rain that you endure makes it all the more important to pursue good productive "indoor" endevours...like Casino Baccarat ! Hey way', Golf in N.Z. can be very "Wet". Feb. is..ok, as far as not being too cold is concerned, but be sure not to forget to "Pack" good wet weather gear. Also be sure to bring good water proof "Golf Shoes", but if you happen to forget them, don't worry..the N,.Z. Golf Pro Shops always have a great and plentiful supply of "Wellies" (rain boots) ! Pando
Yes all taken in good humor of course February in NZ is peak summer time, so you would be unlucky to encounter any wet weather Doesn't mean you wont, of course
