Atreyu
Wondering if any of the regulars could suggest some practice tips to work on NOR and the various systems/modes. I know that there are some very good practice software/simulators for Blackjack. Are there any for baccarat? I've read about large groups of recorded shoes like the book 72 days at the baccarat table or the 1000 shoes from the wizard of odds website. Are these good to go through with the NOR approach filling in the OR counts and the correct system? Would this be appropriate to simulate live casino play?Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Oh, and Keep in mind your stop loss and stop win.3) end of shoe...take the cards, reshuffle thoroughly, and repeat step 24) do this over and over, until you have played 10-15-20-?? "real 8 deck shoes" , and satisfy yourself you are ready to play NOR under the "bright lights" of the CasinoNow you are ready for the big time. , so for the next 15 or so shoes played, play this game at hours you might normally be in bed sleeping, and set the stage and dim all the lights in your room, hire the girl next-door to dress up as a cocktail waitress, and her hubby as the never-smiling pit boss ( or hey, reverse the roles?) and have them hover over you while you play, asking you if you want another drink, or asking you "what are you doing there with that scorecard?" Next, turn on some loud, offensive music and put ESPN/sportscenter channel on, so you are sufficiently distracted.YES, keep on playing during all of this, noting your resultNote: I am not kidding. I am not being facetious. This is the real world you will face in the casino.Unless you are playing on-line, THIS IS PART OF nor/nor+ , and you must master your ability to play in real time conditions, with real-time influences which will affect the outcome of your game, just like betting P/B will do...I have looked at many books on the subject, read everything I can get my hands on about the game, but nothing, and I mean nothing , replaces "REAL WORLD,CASINO SPEED CONDITIONS"...if you really want to amp up your game and get yourself up to speed with what it is really like to play and win.I wish you all the best, and I really think A.N.Y.B.O.D.Y. wants to do this, is willing to do this, will take the time to do this, will advance themselves "light years" over someone who just tries to play a bunch of practice shoes from a book, or with a computer software program, without giving effect to the real world conditions that await the serious player...I hope you are serious ( its real money!), and I wish you all the best in winning lots of it! Atreyu
kachatz,I really appreciate the honest reply. I will start practicing with real cards and I found some blank scoresheets to use. As far as online practicing...that is something I would be interested in but without actually betting real money (if such exists) I thought online baccarat shuffles after every hands so wouldn't that be worthless to practice the NOR approach with? Thanks again for your time. Baccarat Hall of Fame Member kachatz1 Posted January 30, 2014 Baccarat Hall of Fame Member Report Share Posted January 30, 2014 Triple 777-Norm is spot on...if online, you must play " live" shoes...MVS SEAHOG has posted some great atuff about this...Do not, do not fall into the trap of trying to " replay" a shoe where you have already " seen" the results of the shoe...Example: P22111323411131224111341161322212Why? Because you, once trained to play NOR, can quickly glance at a game in progress, and decide to play S40, OTBL, F ...or even better NOR+....And you will be " alerted" to the " be careful now/ maybe I should change gears" switching points...This is what Ellis calls " table selection"This IS NOT how to learn what it is like having to make decisions one-at-a-time, slowly/ methodically as a shoe " unfolds" ... Including when to get in, when to wait it out, when to stopRemember, even on- line, your best practice will be when you put your bankroll at risk, even if you use MONOPOLY MONEY, that's OKIt's real EZ to play where the on-line casino " gives" you a bankroll, and you "play" with their money...This is not the real world...Unless you consistently have your own " skin in the game" , it is not the real worldSo.......even you decide to " practice" on-line, put $100, $200, $500 or whatever up on the table where your scorecard is, and after each entry/exit shoe point, " settle up" with your $$ as if you played the shoe for real ( WIN?? Add $$ to your bankroll...LOSE? Take that amount off the table)This is real world stuff...even Double 77 had to learn it...Best of luck to you and welcome to the forum!!! MVSeahog
"Norm A" has given you a good site to work on your live game."kachatz1" has given you some very good advice on how to practice.Take the time to do it right. Practice with "real" shoes and cards until you're seeing OTB4L in your sleep and you'll be ready to play it for real.Seriously. What they've said is true. Playing for fun, even on a live dealer table, is NOT the same as playing on the exact same table with your own money. You want to be able to play on the table and NOT have the problems that most other players have, namely the distractions, the lack of preparation and the uncertainty of "what do I do next?" type of play.I've gone through three full 8 deck shoes, just for practice time at home (I still practice almost daily) and am working on my fourth one now. That's a lot of worn out cards but if you practice it "for real" it will really pay off down the line. The thing I did was make sure I not only knew what the next bet should be, but WHY that bet was being made. Once you can do that in real time, you'll be ready to roll.MVS Quote What's an MVSeahog?
PeterUK
Also practising for real has a different mentality than playing virtually and sitting behind a computer screen... you want to develop the right habits for real play... the right muscle memory, people interaction, where and how you sit, handling chips, and etc... learn how to risk manage without being distracted, go to a real casino - observe and play on paper to gather the right pace of things - can you record and play at the same time with a real dealer... see how other people play, not get distracted by people throwing loads of money away and etc... and practice, practice and practice with real decks of cards and simulate a real casino as much as you can at home... turn on TV, poker chips, 8 (or 6) decks of cards (depending on what your casino uses) and etcAlso when risking real chips, you have more to lose, when playing with virtual - you don't really care... do you see what I mean? You'll develop the wrong thought processes & habit... and you are likely to lose... You want to 'Win'...? Develop the habits of a 'Winning' player... there are no short cuts ;-)Regards,Peter
Atreyu
Thanks guys for all the helpful tips. I am going to practice daily using real cards and forget about online practice. I'd like to post some shoes with my bets to get some feedback if I'm doing things right. Right now I'm learning NOR. NOR+ and 4D aren't even on the horizon. If I can master NOR with a successful win rate I'll be more than happy! Thanks again guys!
