Baccarat Hall of Fame Member wolfat Posted October 13, 2013 Baccarat Hall of Fame Member Report Share Posted October 13, 2013 nice question...to become a bac pro is a tough choice, i am a very experienced player but even if i could have the possibility to play full time i am involved in family business, so i keep this opportunity for my retirement time.my suggestion is to start part time, so your inevitable mistakes would not effect your life, then if you will be successful at table for a couple of years you should be ready for becoming a pro.you need 3 things to have success:- knowledge, and you'll find the best available here on BTC- mindset, because with no correct mindset you will never reach stable results. I teached a good method coaching a guy from macau but, when he was on the tables, he cannot have control on himself and failed miserably (and i wasted my time)- bankroll, because you could not imagine to play with scared money, at least you need 3 to 5 grand.you cannot miss just one of these required factors... pipecub
Ciao wolftat, Globalization has dampened the job prospects of many working class...even professionals like doctors and lawyers are not spared as human resources becoming cross border. You are fortunate to have a family business to fall back on most of us are at the mercy of our employers, you're rite though if one wants to make a living off this, you need to treat it as a business not some form of entertainment

Guest
Hi guys, With all the outsourcing and insourcing of jobs worldwide, wages seem to be heading south or stagnating..how many of you guys quit their thankless jobs to play for a living after getting NOR...I mean not getting rich overnite but making a decent living off the tables to pay for the bills. And how long does this takes?Well, I quit my job but it wasn't a thankless job. I was a well paid college Professor working for SUNY and was just voted the most popular teacher in the school in 1992. I loved my job but I quit cold turkey to take on Atlantic City full time. But I do not recommend this for you. One thing about teaching is you have lots of free time because you are not allowed to actually teach more than 15 hours a week. I used that time to study and practice both BJ and Baccarat and to write and publish the most successful gaming book of all time. NBJ outsold all other gaming books put together. I already knew casinotactics and how to use their own tactics against them through thousands of hours of casino play. You don't just suddenly declare yourself a professional gambler. You must prove it to yourself and to the casinos FIRST. This takes an insane amount of study and practice - years of daily study and practice and casino play. You must earn that title. So, are you still thinking about quitting you job? My advice is: don't. Learn how to play FIRST. Prove yourself FIRST. Make more money than your job pays FIRST. Then consider going Pro if you are still of a mind to.

pipecub
I think that to draw money from bac tables will free us from the day to day mundane jobs that most of us dislike...that doesn't mean most of us should turn pro but rather do something else in life that is more meaningful ..in the end money buy us time

Edgonsal
Hey Dark,Anything is possible but you need money and DISCIPLINE to win!!!I tried playing this game full time in A.C. Tough to do on a daily basis.Lots of highs & lows. Get your head wrapped around an easily achievable goal first. My advice is to learn to win at the $10 tables first if you have them available. Try to win your first 5 units - take a break, review how you won/lost and think about how you could have done it better. MONEY MANAGEMENT IS KEY!!!ASK YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS : Was it a fight? Am I thinking and seeing things clearly in this casino? Which system would have worked best? Always be aware of your surroundings and what's going on in the shoe. Sometimes you can win by simply betting with or against other players.Stay focused and good luck, Ed

Edgonsal
He is giving you the harsh truth. I played with him, Keith, Ellis & other players on Saturday at Sands in PA. He does gamble but he knows what works for him and more importantly he knows how to win! Each of us have to face the moment of truth and bet our money on the unknown. After all that's what gambling is. If you are really ready to give this your all, then you need to find what works best for you. This is one of the toughest ways out there to make money.I wish that I had a forum like this to read when I started. Do your homework, practice your money management. Know your stuff before you head to the casino. Always mentally prepare yourself to play. Turn of your cell phone and concentrate on your task at hand to win money or control your losses. Learn to trust your gut and skip bets that you don't know. Let the shoe come to you. Walk away from the bad shoes and negative people Stay positive! NEVER GO ALL IN!!! I hope this helps, Ed

pipecub
Seriously how many of us could work till 60yrs old unless you're a well paid civil servant..Nowadays many people are considered expired in the job market after 40 ..Being a card bum is better than being a beach bum as the former has the potential to profit..as the saying goes if you don't bet you can't win but if you have no money you can;t bet

I would tend to think that 60 is a good target age for retirement but most people work past that. MVS Quote What's an MVSeahog?

Edgonsal
Just part of their day to day practice of keeping the odds in their favor. Confusion ALWAYS favors the casino!!!! That's why they blast music, have crazy patterned carpeting and try to keep us in those seats as long as they can. We are comped by the casino by time we play, not the money won or lost. They know that too much time and confusion leads to profits for them.
